What drew you to yoga?
My abject hatred for it. After a handful of vague and casual brushes with yoga, I had decided categorically that I did not like yoga—so I decided to do it consistently until I did.
Why do you practice?
To feel embodied
(Life+) How does yoga change you off the mat?
I’m much less tightly wound (although still wound pretty tightly).
What is your style?
Equal parts methodical and playful. It’s all fine and good to execute a technical sequence, but if you didn’t laugh, what’s the point? I weave lots of cuing, humor, and metaphor into my teaching to keep things dynamic even in static postures.
Where are you when you’re not teaching?
Working on my PhD or devouring scary stories
